Indianapolis 500 Ends With Closest Finish in Race History as Felix Rosenqvist Wins

Felix Rosenqvist captured the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 in dramatic fashion, winning the closest finish in the race’s history after a stunning final-lap pass on David Malukas. The Associated Press reported that Malukas was beaten by just 0.023 seconds at the finish line, in one of the most memorable endings ever at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver posted a four-lap average qualifying speed of 232.248 mph, ahead of Alexander Rossi and David Malukas on the front row. Palou had already established himself as the dominant driver of the 2026 IndyCar season, winning three of the opening five races before arriving at Indianapolis.

In the race itself, Palou led the most laps and was regularly near the front of the pack. The Associated Press reported that he made more passes than any other driver during the event and appeared capable of becoming the first back-to-back Indy 500 winner in decades.

But Palou's hopes evaporated late in the race amid strategic issues and a post-race penalty that dropped him to seventh in the final results.
